Artist Bio’s

Anthony “Shake” Shakir  (Frictional Recordings)
Shakir began producing in 1981, and worked with Detroit musicians such as Derrick May and Carl Craig for many of their early Metroplex releases. Shakir appeared under the name Sequence 10 on the Virgin Records compilation Techno: The New Dance Sound of Detroit.

While many of his peers on the Detroit scene have worked to increase their profile in Europe, Shakir never gravitated toward this scene, working more closely with the second wave of Detroit techno musicians such as Mike Banks and Claude Young. He formed the labels Friction in 1995 and Puzzlebox in 1996, the latter with Keith Tucker.

ATAXIA (Detek Music)  http://www.facebook.com/pages/ATAXIA/

The genetic makeup of Ataxia is a DNA strand wrapped in Ethernet, USB, XLR and the ever classic RCA cable…it’s organs consist of hard drives, interfaces, analogue and digital components. However, it’s Ataxia’s voice that the devoted Detroit underground night-life crowd has been onto for the last year…it’s no mystery that Ataxia speaks the universal binary language of Techno.  Ataxia members Ted Joseph and Eric Hanna shared roots in the ever classic Michigan punk scene, having both played in bands together and shared experiences touring around the Mid-West…In 2009 their mutual love for Detroit and German Techno Music and prodigal like approach to music technology eventually waned them away from the band lifestyle in pursuit of a theoretical live PA concept.

Bruce Bailey (Team Tandem)

Hot off his legendary set at The Metroplex 25th Anniversary Event DJ Bruce Bailey is not just raising the occasional eyebrow anymore but becoming much more of a soat after talent.  The former resident of the longest running house music venue (Club 246) in Detroit history – Bailey went on to build a national following at the recently closed “Lola’s” in midst of Detroits Harmony Park Area.  Bailey is now resident dj @ TV Bar in Detroit for “Mecca” the cities primere house music weekly.

Buzz Goree (Mixworks / UR) http://www.submerge.com/bookings/buzzgoree.htm

Buzz, also known by his production name “Clandestine” has produced many of the infamous standard unobtainable UR Assault DJ Ammo tracks: “Z” records. These specifically created records are for UR Assault DJ use only. The unit comes armed with these and other records which he has created as an tactical advantage over rivals.  Buzz has great knowledge of the UR catalog and utilizes it to it’s fullest and beyond! If you are looking for the inner city opinion of what Detroit music really is without all the intellectual bullshit that seems to attach itself to the music. And you are looking for a sweaty club full of well satisfied dancers and a DJ that doesn’t particularly mind the sometimes adverse conditions that smaller less established countries or clubs usually have, then you will consider using the Bang factor that comes standard on the intimidator, Buzz “Banging” Goree.

Joshua Adams (Exchange Bureau Music) http://www.exchangebureaumusic.com/blog/

Matt Clarke (Detroit Dubstep (dot) com)

Matt Clarke has been djing for over 14 years and been at the very fore front of the Drum n Bass movement in Detroit. For over 5 years he was the DnB buyer at various record shops (Record Time (Roseville), Melodies, Hear Wax) and has continually pushed the music through his unique Dj sets. His style of quickly layering sounds and double dropping tracks have always set him apart from the rest of the pack. Blessed with the name “Razorsharp” from the local emcees, he never disappoints while playing a variation of styles. “I play music that I think people should hear, not necessarily what they want to hear”. *Past and current affiliations* Subculture, Substance, Frequency Detroit, Detroit Bachelor Djs, Syst3m, Analogue Systems, Detroit Jungle Society, 33 1/3, Bordercity, Breakbeat Etiquette, Blacklisted, Cave Dj’s, *Ex-residency’s Motor, Clutch, Carbon, Necto, Alvins, Bird of Paradise (Jazz Bar) http://soundcloud.com/matt-clarke

www.DetroitDubstep.com was created by Matt Clarke in 2007 as a means to promote Dubstep in Detroit. If you have any comments or recommendations please send them to mclarke@detroitdubstep.com

Mondo Blaze (Different Direction)

DJ Mondo Blaze has been making a impact on the Detroit House Music circuit for a few years now. Known for his consistent and correct DJ sets, Mondo has been making an impact as part of the TRUE (The Real Underground Experience) crew as they host their Different Direction parties on the 1st Sunday of the month in Southfield.

Nick Speed (G-UnitRecords) http://www.myspace.com/nickspeed313

Nick Speed is a Hip Hop producer who has produced tracks for 50 Cent, Tupac Shakur, Lloyd Banks, M.O.P., Talib Kweli, Phat Kat, Musiq Soulchild, and Underground Resistance.  He is signed to Money Management Group which is a subsidiary of G-Unit Records.

  10. FIFTY years ago, in the glorious age of three-martini lunches and all-smoking offices, America’s car companies were universally admired. Everybody wanted to know the secrets of their success. How did they churn out dazzling new models every year? How did they manage so many people so successfully (General Motors was then the biggest private-sector employer in the world)? And how did they keep their customers so happy?
